
Legal status
Caucasian Institute for Peace Problems Research /CIPPR, hereafter the Caucasian Institute/ was founded in May 2005 in Gyumri /Armenia/ and registered by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia as a non-governmental organization in August 2006. The Caucasian Institute is an independent, nonpartisan, non-profit research organization established by a group of young intellectuals committed to the work of democracy building and civil society strengthening in Armenia and generally in the South Caucasian region. Its current chairman is Mr. Karen Mkhitaryan.
Mission
The mission of the Caucasian Institute is to help:
· Promotion of the establishment of civil society, protection of human rights and dissemination of democratic values in the South Caucasian region;
· Preventing and resolving conflicts in the South Caucasian region;
· Promotion of cultural understanding and diversity, tolerance and cross border cultural cooperation among the nations of the region.
CIPPR’s interests
The main fields of research and interest areas include:
· Conflict resolution, transformation and peace building;
· Regional cooperation, security and integration issues;
· Intercultural dialogue, human rights and diversity;
· Civil society and democracy strengthening;
· Sustainable human development issues.
Activities
The organization seeks to achieve its goals and objectives through the following activities:
- Research and analysis,
- Trainings and workshops;
- Organization of seminars, conferences and forums,
- Developing educational and training materials,
- Promotion of peace culture through art,
- Informative events, publication dissemination.
